APS District Parent Involvement Program (PIP) APS Handbook for Student Success
Parent Involvement Program (PIP): is an APS District program that is facilitated by the Crossroads counselors and is offered for infractions with substance use. It is provided as an alternative to long term student suspensions for drug and alcohol violations in Middle or High School. Parents/guardians attend with their students and learn important information about substance use, harm reduction, the teenage brain and improving communication.
Parents may also attend on a voluntary basis with their student if they have substance use concerns.
Refer a VHS student
Referrals can be made by anyone that is concerned about a Valley High School Student: parent, friend, teacher, administrator, nurse, school counselor/social worker, etc. Referrals can be made for different reasons. Maybe you are concerned about their substance use, or suspect they may have an issue with substances, or they have been affected by someone else's substance use and need support.
VHS student self-referral
Self-referrals can be made for different reasons. Maybe you are noticing that your substance use has been difficult to control or you want to stop using substance all together but haven't been able to. You might just be curious about substances and you want information about different kinds of substances. Or maybe someone you love is struggling with their own use and it has or continues to effect you.
