My experience in the ALL Program has been a wide range of positive and challenging experiences. I have learned so much about the ins and outs of Education and so much about what it takes to be a leader at a school. This program has prepared me for taking on the role of principal, and that preparation goes beyond the classroom setting, as having to have an entire school year with a mentor principal. Observing and learning on the field was the most valuable piece of professional development this program offers. Not only did I learn about leadership from my mentors, text book authors, university professors, and guest speakers, but I learned so much about myself, my strengths and my weaknesses, which will make me a better leader in future! - ALL Resident

Participating in the ALL program has been one of the most transformative professional experiences of my career. As a lifelong educator stepping into the world of administration, this internship challenged me to grow in ways I never anticipated. From the very beginning, I was encouraged to stretch beyond my comfort zone, and that initial push led me to request a high school placement despite my elementary background. It was a decision rooted in curiosity and a desire to lead with impact across educational levels. - ALL Resident
I had the privilege of working with exceptional students, building meaningful relationships with families and colleagues, and gaining invaluable insight into the responsibilities of an APS school administrator. Balancing interpersonal interactions during the day with administrative tasks in the evening was a crucial skill I developed. Prospective residents should be prepared for the demands of this role, which requires a commitment of over 40 hours per week and completing coursework for the EdS. Patience and perseverance are essential throughout the learning process. - ALL Resident
Being part of the ALL program as a Principal Intern and UNM student has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my professional life. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but I can honestly say it’s helped me grow in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.
Like any real growth process, it’s been a mix of moments that stretched me, challenged me, and gave me a lot to reflect on. But what made the biggest difference wasn’t just the content or the sessions, it was the people. I’ve built relationships that I know I’ll carry with me for the long haul. The support, the honest conversations, the shared struggles all reminded me that leadership doesn’t have to be lonely.
This program didn’t try to polish me into a perfect leader. It helped me find my leadership voice and gave me the space to practice and grow. I feel more confident, more grounded, and more ready to lead with purpose. - ALL Resident
The ALL program has been an amazing experience! It gave me a deeper understanding of how things really work within APS and helped me see the reasons behind important decisions. I loved the practical approach—learning by doing—which made everything we studied feel relevant and impactful. One of the best parts was working closely with UNM staff and APS principals, who brought both theory and real-world experience into our learning. I also formed strong friendships with 11 peers, creating a supportive network where we rely on each other's strengths and expertise. I strongly recommend the ALL program to any educator looking to grow and make a difference. - ALL Resident
Being in the A.L.L Program has been an invaluable experience in opening a broader scope of how the mechanics of a school operate—particularly from an administrative lens. The internship has been a process of trials and tribulations, yet has been an exhilarating and rewarding experience in educational professional development. The UNM classes, co-taught by APS administrators, have also been insightful and engaging for learning administrative roles and responsibilities. Before the program, I felt like complacency was taking over after 17 years in the classroom. I would recommend this program to anyone who feels the same or is up for a personal growth challenge in educational leadership. - ALL Resident
