Cohort-Based Model:
This fosters collaboration, mentorship, and peer learning, creating a strong support network for participants.
Collaborative Curriculum Development:
The curriculum is co-developed by University of New Mexico (UNM) faculty and Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) principals, ensuring alignment with both national standards and local needs.
Blend of Theory and Practice:
Co-taught courses integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world insights, preparing participants for practical leadership challenges.
Earn While You Learn: Paid Residency:
A significant benefit of the ALL program is that residents continue to receive their current base salary throughout the year-long residency period
Career Advancement:
Upon completion, residents may take additional courses to earn an Education Specialist (EdS) Certificate from UNM. Please note that any coursework outside the standard ALL course scope and sequence is the financial responsibility of the resident.
Mentorship:
A strong emphasis is placed on mentorship throughout the program. For the full-year, full-release internship, the resident will be placed with an APS principal who has received their NAESP Level I The National Mentor Certification.
Partnership and Shared Governance:
The program thrives on 15 years of strong, trust-based partnership between APS and UNM, characterized by shared governance and ownership.
Equity Focus:
The program is designed to create culturally responsive, equity driven leaders, to better serve the diverse student population of APS.
University Supervisor Support:
The program provides university supervisors (retired APS principals) to support and coach the development and supervision of future school leaders during their internship/residency, adding an extra layer of expert guidance.
Clinical Internship/Residency with Financial Support:
