For our 2022-2023 school year, we will focus on building a strong foundation in students' native language (whether that is English or Spanish). Simultaneously, students will be provided with opportunities to be challenged and immersed in second language acquisition.
Our core curriculum for Spanish Language Arts (SLA) will continue to be Yabisi Santillana. This curriculum provides opportunities for students to expand vocabulary, improve their comprehension, and their understanding of grammatical rules in Spanish. Consequently, this will contribute to more skilled readers and writers. We will supplement our curriculum with Lunita. Lunita is a follow-up to Estrellita and it provides explicit phonics instruction in Spanish.
In addition, Benchmark Advance is also available in Spanish. This will be used for bridging activities, creating connections between both languages.
