Camerata and String Orchestras

The 3-time NMAA state championship winning orchestra and the 2017 NMMEA state honor orchestra!

The La Cueva Camerata was just chosen to compete at the national level at the American String Teachers Association's National Orchestra Festival in March, 2019 here in Albuquerque!! Congratulations, Camerata!

The La Cueva Orchestra Program is made up of two orchestras involving about 75 students. La Cueva Camerata is a top level auditioned ensemble with students ranging from grades 9-12. Camerata consistently receives superior ratings at district, state and national festivals and often wins competitions while traveling nationally.

Since 2014, Camerata has won the last three back-to-back NMAA state championships in the 6A string orchestra division, has been featured at several APS district events, and has played at the round house in Santa Fe for culture day. Many Camerata students participate in the NMMEA all-state conference every year and in other orchestras around the city. Camerata was chosen previously as NMMEA honor orchestra in 2007, 2010 and 2017.

Camerata and String Orchestra have won gold medals and top honors at regional and national festivals.

String Orchestra consistently receives superior ratings at festivals and plays at an intermediate to advanced level. There is no audition required to participate in string orchestra.

In addition, there is a great tradition of music at La Cueva High School as it was awarded the NAMM Support Music Merit Award in 2015.
