Students with gifts and talents perform—or have the capability to perform—at higher levels compared to others of the same age, experience, and environment in one or more domains. They require modifications to their educational experiences to learn and realize their potential. Each student is evaluated for eligibility based on intellectual ability, achievement (math, reading and writing), creativity and critical thinking. 

Eligibility for gifted core classes requires a score in the gifted range in the core subject area. Example: Students who qualify for gifted based on Math and quantitative evaluation scores will not be placed in a gifted ELA class unless they also score in the gifted or advanced range on state or district assessments. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) is required by state law to assure that each gifted student has appropriate education services to meet their unique instructional needs.
