April DeAngelo earned her teaching degree in Pennsylvania and has lived in Albuquerque, N.M., teaching elementary and middle school gifted students, since 2013. She has been teaching gifted math at Hoover Middle School since 2017. She is highly qualified in Middle Grade Math and has a Gifted Endorsement. Mrs. DeAngelo's overall goal is to challenge the students and push them to “extend effort”. Students will experience difficult challenges in a safe environment where they learn from mistakes and are encouraged to persevere with grit and a passion for math. Mrs. DeAngelo lives in Albuquerque with her husband, two teenage sons (one in college and the other in high school), and their adorable dog named Iris. She enjoys many arts, including pottery, and jewelry-making; joins her husband fly-fishing periodically; and loves completing the mathematical calculations to help with home improvement projects.
