During the transition to Hybrid learning, you can contact the Health Office by calling 877-3770 opt. 3 or email Nurse Konnie at: nelson_kb@aps.edu
Any student that is suspected of having COVID-19 will be escorted to the designated Isolation Room (IR) to wait to be picked up.
Once in the IR, students will be given a new mask to wear while waiting to be picked up.
We are requesting that your student be tested for COVID-19 and quarantine before returning to school.
All COVID-19 cases will be reported to the school administration, primary care providers and the New Mexico Department of Health.
The Ernie Pyle Middle School Health Office is not a replacement for your usual provider (MD, NP, PA) or emergency services. If you are having a medical crisis or emergency please call your provider or 911!
Hello!
My name is Konnie Nelson, and I am the School Nurse at Ernie Pyle Middle School. Michelle Burns is the Health Assistant. We are here to help your student stay healthy and safe while learning online at home or in person at school.
School is very different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand that there is much concern and stress about how your student will be spending their day back in school. I want to share this information on what you can expect from the Health Office this school year.
Please notify the Health Office if your student has a chronic health condition like asthma, diabetes, seizures, or severe allergies. We must have current, signed doctor's orders along with all the medications and/or supplies ordered by the doctor to support your student.
Handwashing for 20 seconds is one of the best ways to protect ourselves form getting sick!
In APS, students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer when they arrive at school, transition between classes, before and after lunch and at the end of the day.
Each day before school, you, as parent/guardian, will go through a checklist of possible symptoms with you student and take their temperature. Students must stay home if they have any symptoms or have a temperature of 100.4 f or higher. **Please do not give your student Tylenol or Ibuprofen to reduce a fever if they have one. They can still spread COVID-19 and a lot of people could get sick.
Students and staff are required to wear a mask while at school, except when eating.
Students and Staff are required to keep a distance of at least 6 feet between one person and another. This is Social Distancing.
Students that are showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 at school will be kept in an isolation room until a parent or emergency contact picks them up.
