1. Go to Classroom.Google.Com

2. Click on the + symbol in the top right corner of the screen.

3. Choose Create Class

4. Create a Class name- recommended to use your teacher name in the Class name to make it distinguishable.

5. Section, subject and room are optional.

6. Click on create

1. Go to Classroom.Google.Com

2. Find the Google Classroom you want to Delete

3. In the top right corner the Google Classroom you want to archive, click on the three dots, choose archive.

4. To fully delete the classroom, click on the top left corner of the screen, three lines.

5. In the pop-up menu scroll down and lick on the archived classes.

6. Look for the Classroom you want to delete in the archived classes. Click on the top three dots in the right corner of the classroom again.

You can either restore or delete the classroom.

Google Classroom Themes are tied to the banner image of the Classroom. When a classroom is first created a banner for the Classroom is automatically enabled. Headers, titles and icons are tied to the “Classroom Theme.”

1.In the main Google Classroom screen (Stream page), there will be a banner with the classroom name.

2. In the bottom right corner of the Classroom Banner you can either select

• Upload Photo- to upload your own banner image, the main color will be pulled from the photo and use that color for the theme.

• Select Theme- Classroom already has a bunch of themes that are available in different categories including English, History, Math, Science, Arts, Sports and more.

Once you have chosen the theme you want, click Select class theme, and the theme will be updated.

In Google Classroom go to the People Tab on the top of the screen.

1. In the Teachers section click on the Invite Teachers Icon to the right, when you hover over it will say Invite Teachers.

2. Invite a teacher by typing their name or email.

3. Click the name of the teacher you want to invite.

4. Click on the invite button.

5. The co-teachers will receive an email invitation to co-teach the classroom as well as the ability to accept through their own Google Classroom Dashboard (classroom.google.com).

1. Click on the People tab on the top of the Classroom page.

2. In the Students section click on the invite Students Icon to the right, when you hover over the icon it will say Invite Students.

3. Type in the name or student number you would like to invite.

4. Click on the name of the student you want to invite.

5. Click on the invite button.

6. When the student goes to classroom.google.com, they will be able to click on the Join button to enroll in your Classroom.

1. On the main Stream page of Google Classroom, there is a code in the Google Classroom banner.

2. Click on the square icon next to the “Class code” in the banner to make the code larger to display on a screen/projector.

3. Students will need to input the code to enroll- Students will need to

• Go to Classroom.google.com

• On the main Google Classroom dashboard, click on the + icon in the top right corner.

Students need to enter the code and click the join button.

When Guardians accept the invitation as a guardian, they receive regular, automatic email summaries for each of their students. Guardians choose the frequency of the emails- daily or weekly- and can unsubscribe at any point.

1. At the top of the main Google Classroom page, click the People tab.

2. Once a student has been enrolled in a classroom, there will be a link next to the student’ name to invite guardians.

3. Enter the guardian’s email address.

Click invite. If the guardian hasn’t accepted an invitation, you’ll see invited next to the guardian’s email address.

In the Student Section there are actions that can be taken. To select the student click on the box next to their name. WIth selected students you will be able to

1. Email students- from the student section if email is enabled.

2. Remove- Remove the student from the classroom.

3. Mute- When you mute a student, the student can still submit work, but they will not be allowed to post to the stream, reply to classmates’ work or comment on student assignments.

Students can also unenroll from Google Classroom. In the Google Classroom Dashboard (the homescreen when you go to classroom.google.com) students have access to all of their enrolled classrooms.

In the top right corner of each classroom are three dots. When students click on the three dots they can choose to unenroll.

Teachers can group assignments under topics. Assignments can be categorized by subject, unit, or date.

1. In the Classwork tab in Google Classroom, click the +Create button.

2. Click on the Topic option

3. Enter the topic and click Add.

You can filter by topic on the left of the classwork tab.

Material Assignments are designed as resource materials for students. Material assignments are view only and are not turned in by students.

1.On the Classwork page, click the +Create button.

2. Select the Material option.

3. Enter the Title & Description of the activity.

4. You can also Add or Create an attachment.

6. Click on Post in the top right corner of the assignment. Click on the down arrow- There is a drop-down menu to

Schedule- Schedule the activity to post in the classroom in the future.

Save Draft- Save the activity in draft mode to edit and post later.

Post a Short-Answer or Multiple-choice question for students to answer.

1.On the Classwork page, click the +Create button.

2.Select the Question option.

3.Enter the Title & Description of the activity. Next to Title select the type of question you want to ask the Students- Short Answer or Multiple Choice.

4. You can also Add or Create an attachment.

5. The right menu has options to

*Select the Class or Classes to include.

*Choose to post to all students, or choose individual students.

*Select the amount of points for the assignment.

*Select the Due Date for the assignment.

*Categorize Assignment into a topic

*For SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS - select if students can reply to each other and if students can edit their answer.

*For MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS- select if the students can see a class summary.

7.Click on Post in the top right corner of the assignment. Click on the down arrow- There is a drop-down menu to

*Schedule- Schedule the activity to post in the classroom in the future.

*Save Draft- Save the activity in draft mode to edit and post later.

When you create an assignment, you can determine how to add attachments to manage student work.

1.On the Classwork page, click the +Create button.

2.Select the Assignment option.

3.Enter the Title & Description of the activity.

4.You can also Add or Create an attachment. You can add attachments, such as files from your computer, and decide how student interact with the attachments-

• Add- Add an item from

Google Drive. A Link. Upload a file. Youtube

• Create- Create an activity straight from Classroom as a

Doc. Slide. Sheet. Drawing. Form

• Attachment Drop-Down- When you have created an attachment, click on the down arrow and choose an option for the attachment.

Students can view file- all students can read and view the file, but cannot edit anything.

Students can edit file- All students share the same file and all the students can make changes to the same file.

Make a copy for each student- Students get their own copy of either a doc, sheet, or slide file, automatically generated for each student.

5. The right menu has options to

• Select the Class or Classes to include.

• Choose to post to all students, or choose individual students.

• Select the amount of points for the assignment.

• Select the Due Date for the assignment.

• Categorize Assignment into a topic

• Create or Reuse a Rubric

• Run originality reports

6. Click on Post in the top right corner of the assignment. Click on the down arrow- There is a drop-down menu to

• Schedule- Schedule the activity to post in the classroom in the future.

• Save Draft- Save the activity in draft mode to edit and post later.

When students return an assignment, teachers can view and grade submissions right from the assignment.

1. In the Classwork tab click on the assignment until it drops down.

2.Click View Assignment to be taken to the Student Work screen.

3.Click on one student’s submission to view each individual entry. You can switch between different entries in the same screen.

4. Teachers can grade the assignment manually or using the rubric from each student’s submission.

5. Teachers can also add comments to student work.

• Highlight the area to add a comment.

• On the far right or on the main toolbar a Comment logo (+) will appear. Add a comment or

Click on the Comment Bank icon (on right sidebar), click on the +Add to Bank to add a comment to the comment bank, Add a comment using the same steps as above, but use a # at the beginning of the comment and select a comment from the comment bank.

1. For Quiz Assignments and Regular Assignments- you can create a rubric for an assignment. To Create a rubric fill out the appropriate parts.

• Criterion title- Name of each criteria evaluating. Example- Introduction.

• Criterion description- A brief description of the criterion. Example- The introduction of your letter should be clearly written.

• Level Points- Add the number of points for each criteria level- Examples 1

• Level titles- Create the title for each performance level.- Example Emergent

• Level descriptions- under the criterion, a description of expectations or characteristics for performance levels. Example- Describes the description for the emergent section.

• Total Rubric points- the total points available for the rubric and all criteria sections.

Total Criterion points- the total points available for a criterion.

1. When you turn on originality reports, you and your students can check work for authenticity. The report will search all of Google web pages and books to determine authenticity and cite plagiarism.

2. When you assign Originality reports to an assignment, students can run their assignments three times before turning them in. The originality report will flag any instances of plagiarism and will determine what percentage of a document is individual.

3. When students submit their work, teachers will receive a copy of the originality report.

In Google Classroom you can reuse a previously created activity/assignment. You can use it in the original class or a different class. The post can be edited before it is posted to the Classroom. To reuse a post In the Classwork Tab click on the +Create button

1. Select Reuse Post.

2. To reuse a post from a different classroom, click on the back arrow in the top left corner, and select the Classroom you want to use.

3. Once in the correct Classroom, Click on the Post you want to reuse.

4. Then click on the Reuse button.

The title, instructions, attachments, points and topics will be posted into the next classroom. You can edit the assignment before it is posted.

Google Classroom automatically creates a brand new “Calendar” in Google Calendar for each Google Classroom. This calendar is shared to all students. On the Classwork tab click on the Google Calendar icon at the top of the page.

• Due dates that are created are automatically posted in Google Calendar.

• When a teacher creates an event on the Google Calendar- it will automatically share to student calendars.

To see all Google Classroom Calendars at once, from the Google Classroom Dashboard (classroom.google.com), click on the three lines in the top left corner, select Calendar. You will be able to filter or see all calendars at once.

Google Classroom automatically creates a brand new Google Classroom Folder in your Google Drive for each Google Classroom. This calendar is shared to all students. On the Classwork tab click on the Google Calendar icon at the top of the page.

• All copies of student work that are “turned in” to the teacher will be stored in these folders.

• A new folder is created every time a new assignment is created.

• Do not delete, move or resort these files or they can break the “link” to Google Classroom.

The Google Classroom stream is a location for teachers and students to post announcements and reminders, or to comment or reply to others.

• A Post should be for important information or reminders. Example- Field trip to the mountains will be Friday, wear tennis shoes.

• A Reply is an option available to respond after an item has been posted. Example- Wow this Friday? I think it is going to rain, bring a jacket!

Teachers can enable and disable comments or posts on the stream through Classroom Settings.

Google Classroom defaults where all classwork is posted on the stream, as well as in the Classwork page. This can also be enabled/disabled.

To create a Google Classroom Stream post-

1. Click on the top bar next to your image icon.

2. Type in the post for the classroom

3. Select the audience- Select classes and students.

4. If you want to add an attachment, click the Add button to add a Drive file, link, upload or Youtube Video.

5. Stream posts can be Scheduled for the future, saved as a draft or posted immediately to the Stream.

If comments are enabled for students, teachers and students have the ability to comment on each others’ posts. Teachers do have some options when students post.

Go to the far right side of the posted comment and click on the three dots. Teachers can

• Move to the Top- move the comment to the top of the stream.

• Delete- Delete a student comment.

• Copy link- to send the post directly through email etc.

Mute the student- if the student has made an inappropriate comment, teachers are able to mute the student from future posts.

Assignments can be graded through the Classwork Tab by clicking and viewing the assignment.

1. In the Classwork tab click on the assignment until it drops down.

2. Click View Assignment to be taken to the Student Work screen.

3. Click on one student’s submission to view each individual entry. You can switch between different entries in the same screen.

4. Teachers can grade the assignment manually or using the rubric from each student’s submission.

5. Teachers can also add comments to student work.

Click on the Grades page. A column will be created for each activity and assignment posted, as well as a row for each student. From the Grades section-

1. Click on the Assignment Title in the column heading to go straight to the Student Work page. If all grades have been entered. Click on the three dots to the right of the Assignment title- to return all graded assignments to students.

2. Click on the individual student’s grade for each activity to add a grade to each assignment manually. Click on the three dots to the right of the grade to either View Submission or to Return quickly to the student after logging the grade.

3. Grades will be Marked “Turned in” and automatically calculated for each student’s overall grade.

If Google Synergy Sync is turned on, students grades will be automatically imported into Synergy.

Google Classroom defaults to “Points Based” grades. Grading can be changed in the Classroom settings.

1. Click on the Gear icon in the top right corner of the Google Classroom you want to change.

2. On the Settings page scroll down to the Grading section.

3. Teachers can change the overall grade calculation to no overall grade, total points or weighted by category.

4. Teachers can toggle showing the overall grade to students on their Classroom page.

If you had previously set the “Overall grade calculation” to weighted by category, grade categories can be added later.

Students are able to see their own grades from the Google Classroom Classwork tab. Students go to the View my work icon at the top of the page. Students can see all assignments, pending assignments and missing work. Assignment individual grades can be viewed, as well as the class overall grade if it has been enabled by the teacher.

Google Classroom settings are available for each Google Classroom. In the top right corner of the Classroom, click on the Gear Icon. From the Settings Menu Teachers are able to change-

• Class Details- Change the class name, section, room and subject.

• General Settings-

  • Reset Class Code- if students are abusing the Class code, reset it.

  • Stream Settings- Set Stream comments to where students can post or comment, or only the teacher.

  • Classwork on the stream- Classwork is automatically posted on the stream. Set the classwork to be posted with attachments/details, in a condensed view or hidden on the stream (Assignments are still available on the Classwork page.)

  • Show deleted items- Hide or view deleted items.

  • Guardian Summaries- enable or disable parent Guardian Summaries.

  • Google Meet- Turn on an image icon that will automatically launch a Google Meet from the student’s Google Classroom. To set up a Google Meet-

    • Generate a Meet Link

    • Toggle on to make the image visible to students.

    • Toggle off the icon after the meet, and generate a new code each time.

• Grading- Teachers can change the way grades are calculated, how student’s view them and create categories.

There are some Overall Classroom Settings available for all the different Google Classrooms. To access these settings, go to the Top left icon of the screen- Three Lines.

• Classes Home- The Classes homepage is where to access all the different Google Classrooms.

• Calendar- See all the Assignments in all Google Classrooms in one place.

• To-Do- Teachers can see all the assignments from every Google Classroom in one place. Students can see which assignments to review, and mark them as reviewed.

• Classrooms- see which classrooms you have created as a teacher, as well as which Classrooms you are enrolled in as a student.

• Archived Classes- see which Classrooms have been Archived.

Settings- Through this settings tab you can change your profile picture and turn off email notifications for all Google Classrooms.
