Is Schist found in NC?
Schist isn't found too often in NC but if it is then it would be in the Mountain region because that's where metamorphic rocks form. Schist is typically found in countries like Ireland and Brazil.
FUN FACT: Schist has a variety of compositions and is usually named after whichever mineral is most present in the sample!
Ex. A schist with mostly chlorite would be a chlorite-schist.
