The GeoDectives Club is a bilingual, environmental science after school program at Parkway Elementary School in Watauga County. The Club provides students aged 8-11 an opportunity to explore their natural surroundings using environmental science methods and equipment. Topics range from sustainable gardening, to bird biology, water quality tests, rock identification and everything in between.
GeoDetectives is facilitated by students and faculty of the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at Appalachian State University and made possible through grants funded by the College of Arts and Sciences, Vulcan Materials Company Foundation and the Billy and Del Hunt Helton Fund.
