Integration of Feedback loops
Staff members at my school need to feel valued, that their input matters, and that their voice is heard.Β
Feedback loops are utilized in the Instructional Materials section, as part of the description of each module.
This phrase below is repeated so that staff are continually encouraged and reminded to give feedback that makes a difference in how the course is refined and added to over time.Β
Each module has a Google Form for staff to complete, enabling them to give such feedback as a course ranking, what they learned, and how the course can be improved.Β
This information helps me as the course designer to know what needs to be altered, removed, or add to a particular module.Β
The Google Form for each module is a short, five question feedback loop. Keeping the Google Form quick can motivate users to complete the form and also communicates that I understand and respect the time of staff.Β Β
There are many types of prompts for motivating learners with online engagement.Β
This website emphasizes motivational prompts that are centered around personal growth and recognition.Β
Personal growth prompts encourage learners to learn new things and to grow in their professional practice. Recognition prompts and challenges encourage staff learners to reach farther in their learning and to earn a badge to show off their accomplishments.Β
It can be implemented with tutorials, engaging and relevant educational content, and challenges that offer a reward for meeting a learning target.Β
It can be even more powerful if it is a personal growth prompt that also encourages others to work together, and accomplish a new learning goal in community.Β
"This website is designed for your personal professional growth and for interaction among staff! Let's learn new skills about AI and grow together!"
A personalized learning path is supportive of all adult learners, enabling each staff member to learn according to their own interests, needs, and pace.Β
This course has numbered modules but staff are not required to complete them in any order, except perhaps for the first module on the introduction to AI.Β
In the future, I would like make different paths that staff could select if they really wanted to target learning about a particular topic, such as AI for enhancing math instruction, AI for assessment and feedback, or AI for differentiation.Β
Personalized learning paths or flexible learning paths can be very motivational for learners as they get to exercise choice and agency in their studies.Β
My staff are used to required professional development that comes in one form only. With these modules, and based upon their feedback from the empathy map, I wanted to create a course that was open and flexible for staff.Β
