These AI instructional materials are broken down into mini-modules.
Why mini-modules on AI?
1) Adaptive and Designed for Flexibility:
The modules that follow below are designed to let you as an educator learn about artificial intelligence in education in your own time, pace, and space!
As new tools are approved by the district mini-modules are easy to update, add, and personalize according to learner needs and interests.
2) Solo or Group Learning on Your Time:
These modules can be explored individually on your own professional or personal time.
It is also recommended to explore a module during a PLC with your team or another member of your team.
3) Reflective and Empathetic of Educator Workloads:
These modules include quick opportunities to reflect on AI, such as Jamboards with 2-3 short questions at the end of a module, or a discussion board for educators to share questions and ideas.
4) Improving the Experience of Learning about AI :
AI is very new and rapidly evolving. There is much to learn and understandable feelings of apprehension or uncertainy about AI among educators.
Breaking the content into smaller modules makes the learning process more manageable and hopefully more enjoyable too!
AI Course Objectives:
1) Staff will develop an introductory understanding of artificial intelligence. Staff will be able to share and identify the potential benefits and problems with AI in education.
2) Staff will learn about and explore AI tools in education that support planning and instruction. Staff also thoughtfully consider how AI could help with family communications and day-to-day tasks.
3) Staff will gain expertise in utilizing AI to produce better prompts with generative AI tools, such as Chat GPT or Gemini.
4) Staff will be able to compare and contrast different AI tools in education approved by the district, and critically examine their appropriateness and uses for instruction.
5) Staff will understand and demonstrate how to use AI ethically, and be prepared to model and share with students about appropriate use of AI for learning.
6) Staff will interact in-person, sharing ideas and questions, while completing AI modules together in-person during PLCs. Staff can also interact asychronously online through Jamboard reflections, selecting the AI modules that most interest and apply to their learning needs.
Your input shapes the modules I create and add to this AI course website! Share your thoughts and influence future updates!
