Texas History
Welcome to the world of Texas History. This history class covers the pre-Columbian period through the modern era. We begin with exploring the geography of Texas, along with the Native American cultures within each region. Followed by European Colonization and the impact they had on Texas and its people. We continue with the Texas Revolution through statehood, confederacy, and rejoining the Union. We further discuss economic, social issues, and political changes that occur throughout the 20th century.
The Texas History team enjoys bringing history to life with hands-on activities such as gallery walks, short documentaries, and projects that allow students to be creative and display their learning. Our team constantly searches for new lessons and ideas to ensure rigor and engagement for all learning types and needs.
We offer both advanced and on-level classes. In on-level classes, students gain a foundational understanding of Texas history. They are encouraged to meet challenges and utilize remediation opportunities to ensure successful learning. In contrast, advanced classes push students to engage in high-level discussions, pursue independent learning, tackle complex assignments, and conduct deeper analysis. Students in these classes work at a faster pace and are expected to manage a greater volume of work. Additionally, advanced classes include more rigorous assessments, such as higher-level questions and presentations, which require a deeper understanding of the material.
