The Learning Center-potential parents

THE PRESCHOOL LEARNING CENTER is the lab class attended to by Child Development students from South Windsor High School. The criteria to participate in The Preschool Learning Center is:

1. You must be a South Windsor resident.

2. Your child must be completely toilet trained (this includes able to fully wipe themselves). This also means that no child may come to school in a diaper or a pull up pants.  (We understand there will be accidents and we will ask for a complete change of clothing to be left at school in that event but due to the fact we are not governed by the health department and do not have places for human waste such as a disposal for diapers or pull ups a child may not be in school except for in underwear.)

3. Your child must be 3 by the time the program starts in October (which is usually around October 15) and may not be older than 5 nor a child in kindergarten.

4. You must read the commitment letter explaining that the purpose of this program is dual intensive--to educate both sets of students--the preschoolers AND the high school students.  Therefore it is very important to make a commitment to attending to the program as much as possible.

Program next fall

Our fall session of The Learning Center takes place in October through December/January and our spring session of The Learning Center takes place in March through May/June.  Preschool weeks next fall will run four days a week.  With this schedule, this will allow ALL classes to be with the children two times each week.  Next year, along with many other high school classes, we will be moving to a new environment, helping to alleviate overcrowdedness in the high school.  Our new classroom gives us a chance to have a large room and access to an outside playground area.

Preschool Timing:

These times given, may still need to be tweaked a bit but at least give you an idea.

FEES next fall:

Our fees remain the same as they did this past year even though we have increased our time:

The fees are as follows:

$95 for the entire session (a session runs from either October to Dec/Jan or March to May/June).

There is also a non refundable registration fee which is $20 as you register your child.

We also require a late fee of $30 which will be refunded in full as long as pick up is completed each day in a timely manner.  (For every five minutes you are late to pick up, we will deduct $5 from this late fee but our hope is to give back this check in whole at the end of your child's term with us.)

You may pay for the entire year at once ($190 for total tuition + $20 non refundable registration fee +Late fee of $30, which will hopefully be returned at the end of the year=$210 in one check and $30 in a separate check--please see commitment letter for details on this)

Each child is assigned an older "special friend" (a high school student), each hour, who will give one to one help during each class period.

The Learning Center-(previous page)-allows you to see examples of daily newsletters and photos within the newsletters. You can also see our handbook.

Covid19 notice:

We will abide by any CDC protocols in terms of facemasks, social distancing, sanitizing, absence of particular toys, etc. in order to stay healthy.

Please read the letter down below called Preschool Registration Commitment Letter 2024 before you sign up on our on line registration.

Once you have read the Preschool Registration Commitment letter, you can continue on to register your child.

Once you register online, please send in the tuition check (made payable to SWHS Preschool The Learning Center) and send it to: Ann Wolff, SWHS, 161 Nevers Road, South Windsor, CT 06074

Please read the letter below, explaining our process and then fill out the online registration form.  Once you do that, please find the link on this page for the health form and have that form completed and send it in to the appropriate place.

Once your online forms and tuition are in place a confirmation form will be sent home stating you have a spot.  Once you have received your confirmation form stating you have a spot, please move forward to the health assessment so that part of the process can be completed as well. That is a multi-step process since you need to fill it out, the doctor needs to fill out an area and our nurse needs to check it to see if it meets all criteria. If it doesn't meet criteria, she will notify you and let you know exactly what needs to happen in order for this last step to occur. Once that happens, you are all cleared and then just waiting for our calendar to state when all of our preschool dates will take place (calendars usually come out at the end of September and February).

As stated above, new students need to fill out the health assessment (parts need to be filled out by their physician) and sent directly to our nurse, Demi Walsh.  Her contact info is: Demi Walsh, SWHS Attention: School Nurse 161 Nevers Road, South Windsor, CT 06074, (860) 474-1658 . FAX: (860) 474-1495, DWalsh@swindsor.k12.ct.us

Health form: Early Childhood health assessment record

If you have any questions, please contact me: Ann Wolff AWolff@swindsor.k12.ct.us

If you click twice on the online forms and letter below, they will become full size.

Please keep in mind we can only take in 12 preschoolers per semester.  After we have received 12 fully committed (and fully paid) we will keep a waiting list in case something falls through with one of the preschoolers).

HAPPY REGISTERING!!!
