Student Interest Project

The focus of the South Windsor High School Capstone Student Interest Project is to engage each student in a personalized learning experience. This project allows students the opportunity to apply their social, civic, and academic skills while exploring an area of interest outside the boundaries of their formal educational program.

This experience offers the opportunity to:

  • collaborate with others
  • explore an individual interest
  • develop a unique interest project

What is a Student Interest Project?

The Student Interest project is your chance to develop a project of interest that connects to both individualized learning goals and civic or social goals . It allows you the opportunity to reflect on the learning through the experience. Students that choose this option will identify, research and develop a unique project that will demonstrate the learning that was done through the process.

Types of Student Interest Projects:

  • Building a computer from scratch
  • Writing a poetry book
  • Creating a music album
  • Learning a new language, play an instrument, etc.. (not done in a class)

When creating your student interest project all social distancing guidelines must be followed. This can be done utilizing distance learning technology if your project involves working in the community.

You design an independent project and submit this to your faculty adviser for approval.
