Students enrolled in the Smart Transfer program will still need to complete the minimum 22 credits & 5 Regents Exams to graduate with a NYS Diploma.
To ensure students have all of the credits they need to graduate SCCC & SHS have worked to align courses within the program to assist with the students completing their graduation requirements.
Some Examples Include: (College Composition Course at SCCC - counts towards English 12 credit at SHS; Western Civ to 1650 - meets the graduation requirement for Global 9 at SHS )
All courses at SCCC that are added to the Schenectady High School Transcript will be weighted on a 4.5 scale as they are CHS courses.
Students, Parents and Counselors will work together to review the SCCC transcript and assist the family in making decisions around awarding high school credits for College Coursework. It is important for families to be aware that some colleges may not accept transfer credits if the course was used as a graduation requirement on the high school transcript (this varies from college to college).
