Balanced Literacy

Balanced literacy is a theory of teaching reading and writing that arose in the 1990s and has a variety of interpretations. For some, balanced literacy strikes a balance between whole language and phonics.

In this session, Blended Learning was modeled, and participants learned about the pedagogy that is embedded in HyperDocs. An emphasis was placed on designing tasks that allow for student voice and choice.
