Pomona Unified School District – Educational Technology Department
The PUSD Educational Technology Department is dedicated to ensuring equity, access, and innovation in digital learning across the district. Guided by its mission to equip, inspire, and empower all learners, the department supports administrators, teachers, and students in integrating technology to enhance blended and personalized learning. Core initiatives include the Future Ready Promise District Technology Plan, a robust 1:1 device program, and the Computer Science/Robotics for All initiative, along with professional development and curriculum pilots.
Director Dr. Cynthia Sanchez leads the department with administrative support from Nereida Vargas. Teacher Specialists—Rebecca Becerra, Justin Kirkpatrick, Genae Fernandez, Michael Dyer, Rebecca Bulsombut, Laura Alikhan, and Phyllis Park—provide instructional support, training, and innovative classroom strategies. The Technology Support—Jeffrey Canfield, Omar Enriquez, Jorge Ramirez, Kyle Payne—oversee infrastructure, tools, and technical integration. Together, the team works to create an “everywhere, all the time learning” environment that prepares PUSD students to graduate college- and career-ready.

“Great teaching is the ability to distinguish between what can and needs to be explained and what cannot be explained. The working of a computer needs to be explained as it is made by the human mind. But a butterfly need not always be explained. A butterfly has to be seen with gleaming eyes of wonder as it is a natural expression of life and not of the mind.”

“The world's problems cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics, whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were and ask, ‘Why not?’” ~President John F. Kennedy
