Japanese is one of the hardest language to learn for English speakers. The writing system (three systems) is completely different from the alphabet based languages, sounds are different, it takes a long time to be fluent. It is only spoken in a small country of Japan, etc.. With so many negative aspects of taking this language, why learn it then? Students who take Japanese are seeking more challenges, want to be different from others and many are fascinated by this unknown, unique language and culture. And we cannot forget, anime enthusiasts!
