Section Description: This course covers geographic principles and processes in mountain environments. We will examine glacial and volcanic features, as well as plant communities. Campsites will be reserved; camping fee $20 per person. Students may request the field trip fee be waived due to a lack of sufficient funds at the Science Department office. Students will be responsible for providing their own camping equipment and meals, generally prepared in small groups. Please contact the instructor at thomsec@arc.losrios.edu if you have any questions. Participants should prepare for highly variable weather (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow…) and should expect to do hiking in high elevation, thin air conditions. Call or e-mail Prof. Charlie Thomsen if you have questions or difficulties adding the class (916 484-8184 or thomsec@arc.losrios.edu) or Prof. Glenn Jaecks (916 484-8638 or jaecksg@arc.losrios.edu).
