Self-Assessment Reflection
At the end of each major unit, I’ll reflect on my learning experience by responding to specific questions about my personal perspective and attitude toward the class. These reflections are my own assessments of my strengths and weaknesses as a reader and writer, and they also help the instructor assess my learning needs.
This self-assessment followed the completion of our very first major writing project, the "Swag" essay. Think, Write, and Share
At the start of various classes I was asked to complete what are called, "Think, Write, and Share" free writes to help spark my thinking about the day’s topic and get our discussions started. Sometimes, the instructor will also do this to check in on my mental state and feelings about my literacy development. Here I was able to let my thoughts flow free and share any concerns, how I am doing, my thoughts, and answer critical-thinking questions in a safe space.
