Course Essentials

What's ahead?

I'm so glad you're here! This 16-week course invites you to learn more about the human body, its parts, and how it functions. This course is preparation for various Allied Health Programs at CRC, including but not limited to Medical Assisting and Health Information Technology.

Though the topics may be challenging for some of us, I hope you will see the value of stretching yourself and venturing into the sciences. While this may be the only science course you take at college, it will provide an essential foundation for your career in the health field. Many former students have confided in me that they were apprehensive about taking this course - if that's you, know that you are not alone! My hope is that this course will be transformative for you and prepare you to work in the allied health field and/or advocate for your health or the health of a loved one when interacting with healthcare professionals.

Course Description

This introductory course provides an overview of the basic anatomy and physiology of all body systems. It is designed as a non-transferable course for the Medial Assisting Programs and other related programs such as HIT and may be useful for other health-related technologies and for strengthening or developing a vocabulary in human anatomy and physiology.

Why this course is important to you.

Well, you're human, right? But seriously, have you ever visited the doctor and struggled to understand the terms they were using or the body functions they were describing? Have you ever looked at those charts in the exam room and thought, "that's inside me?!". This course will, if nothing else, provide you with the language you need to communicate with healthcare professionals, both on the job and in your personal life.
