Welcome!

Hey there, I am Michelle and I am excited make this summer semester an excellent experience. I am so honored to introduce you to statistics. Statistics is the basis for everything we do: voting, health, transit, school, and the daily choices we make. No matter your field, you would want to be proficient in Statistics. Statistics is a way for society to tell stories and communicate numerical information to "back up" their claims. When done correctly, this is a powerful tool that we all can, and should, access. I would like you to leave our statistics course with the ability to use the methods and terminology for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting empirical data to tell the stories we are responsible for sharing.

My Philosophy: The pandemic has challenged my perspective as an instructor. I do not want to be a barrier to your learning. This online course allows you to think critically, reflect, and then engage.

Furthermore, it is unfortunate that our school system is designed to measure your understanding just after exposure to it. In reality, it does not work that way; we have other responsibilities, and sometimes we need more time to obtain an understanding. So asking for help and making mistakes is ok since that is how we learn. Keep applying yourself, and know that we are here to cheer you on and work together to ensure your success.

I am here for you beyond the videos recorded, and beyond the content pages created.

I will never stop believing in you. No matter what. I trust you unconditionally. I will help you in any way we can. I will not judge you. I will honor and respect you regardless of your income, education, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, the color of your skin, religion and political persuasion, age, physical ability, nationality, citizenship, native language, marital status, or culture. I will treat you with courtesy, and we will treat you as an adult.

Here is what I know about a college degree. It will give you more options and allow you to have more opportunities. It has the potential to enable you to earn more money than you currently earn. It can help you create a life that matches your dreams.

I will do all I can to make learning fun, risk-free, and meaningful. I will also do all I can to challenge you to do more, learn more, and be more. I promise to do all I can to help you discover more of who you truly are. You belong here.
