"Spencer is a freshman at American River College and has been doing art for 7 years. He works mainly in college but dabbles in all different kinds of mediums. He takes the mundane and turns it into the bizarre by experimenting with unusual textures and by using vintage and pop culture media. Lately, he has been exploring the relationship between femininity and masculinity."

After more than 30 years of working in IT, I've changed my focus to art. Art is stimulating in a different way than systems are. Both are engaging, thought-provoking, and stimulating. I appreciate more the "how" to convey an idea or concept in art while keeping the rules of portraying an image in mind.

"I am an artist who will try just about any art technique and material if I can get access to it. In this body of works, I have used the technique of creating a mosaic out of tiny pieces of magazines. I also did the sgraffito technique on the circular tile slab. I used charcoal to create the landscape. I used pointillism for the bunch of grapes with eyeballs in them. I hope people become inspired by my artwork to create art themselves."

"My work is reflective of the places, animals, and insects that I connect with on a personal level. When creating art it is important for me to have a connection with my subjects. This connection creates a story that translates into each piece I create."
