I’ve been a photographer for about two years now, starting at the beginning of the pandemic. My early works include many landscapes and low light shots of the countryside. All I used at the time was my mom's camera. When I got to college, I continued with my academic career, and my athletic career as a swimmer. By this time I had gotten my own camera, so I was able to take it with me to different events. One of the things that annoyed me all throughout high school, and still into college, is the fact that not every sport is shown the same amount of support. Football, baseball/ softball, soccer, and basketball, constantly receive more support and attention than other sports, like swimming, cross country, water polo, and so on. So this swim season, I decided to help support my team by acting as a team photographer as well as a swimmer. When I take pictures, I put myself in the best position possible to get the best action shots possible whether it means lying awkwardly on the ground or actually getting in the water. While I will often end the day with over a thousand photos, I highlight the moments that show the most suspense, the most effort, and the most emotion. These are the moments when the audience can see the work and dedication paying off the most, even when things don’t go as planned. I am still learning as a photographer, and with each batch of photos, I make sure to adjust where needed in order to better showcase my work.
