My artistic passion began on a warm April afternoon during my junior year of high school when I signed up for an advanced art class. I, fortunately, found a fabulous art teacher who supported me. She was my mentor and my inspiration. She nurtured the natural artistic abilities I never knew I had. While studying watercolor, she showed me how to translate pictures in my head to complex objects, suspended in a water-soluble figment of my imagination that loomed with luminosity and vivacity on paper.
In Art History, I developed skills in crafting the visual and sensual world of Renaissance artists and adopted the mindset of some of the most creative painters and sculptors.
I also learned to draw still-life pictures indistinguishable from the objects themselves. When I gazed into a Cortland apple, my body, mind, and soul became this sweet, juicy red fruit that glimmered in the sunlight.
Thanks to my teacher's unwavering encouragement, I produced my first displayed painting at the Translation Showcase at my high school. After reading a poem, I painted my interpretation of a boy wandering alone near a locker in the corridors of a high school, signifying his sense of isolation as he journeys through secondary education in search of his identity. My art teacher praised my painting for its originality and vibrating colors that seamlessly blend rich patterns with subtle fading whites, greens, and blues lines.
After my reputation as an artist became framed on the walls of the Performing Arts Center, I knew that I had to expand my artistic passion. Therefore, I took a cornucopia of art classes at American River College. I wanted to do more than produce fine art. I wanted to delve into the heart and soul of the famous grandmasters. I hungered to comprehend the history and philosophy of art. I wanted to be--needed to be a professional artist, for I discovered that art is a state of mind.
Now I am ready to take my artistic desire to the next level. I look forward to becoming part of an elite community in an art program with distinguished faculty who will mentor, guide, and shape me into a professional artist. I am eager to fill my soul and take control of my life by capturing the beauty of life on paper.
I look forward to sharing my creative gifts with the world and capturing objects, form, composition, and the very essence of the human spirit through my art.
