eLearning Day

An "eLearning day" means a school day where a school offers full access to online instruction provided by students' individual teachers due to inclement weather. State law allows for the use of up to five (5) eLearning days each year that can be counted as a regular school day.

eLearning Days provide opportunities for learning to continue despite Minnesota’s winter weather. eLearning Days are not meant to replace face-to-face interactions between students and teachers, but can provide better continuity and lessen disruption to academic progress due to emergency school closures. The need to make up school day(s) later in the year are also mitigated.

An eLearning Day will be called on the second snow/cold day of the year.

Early childhood and elementary teachers will provide a choice board of activities for students to choose from to complete. These boards will be available in students’ take home folders and posted on the district website.

Secondary teachers will post assignments to Schoology by 10am.

Teachers will be available for support between 10-3pm.

Students will complete the activities provided by their teachers and ask for support when needed.

Families will help their students complete their activities and ask for support as needed.

If access is an issue, communicate with teachers prior to an eLearning Day. Otherwise, communicate with teachers upon return to work out a plan for work completion.

Attendance is recorded for eLearning Days. If your child is ill and unable to complete the learning activities, please call your school’s attendance office to report the absence. Your student will then follow the school’s process for making up work missed during an absence.
