Extended French
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) offers French as a Second Language (FSL) options of Core French, Extended French and French Immersion for Grade 9 to 12 students who are interested in increasing their confidence and proficiency in the French language. Learning another language provides significant cognitive and academic benefits, where students inspire and motivate each other to become life-long language learners and active world citizens.
The secondary Extended French program at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute is intended for students who are graduating from French Immersion/Extended French in Grade 8, or who have an equivalent background in French.
Registration Process
Students currently enrolled in a HPEDSB school will select from the French language pathway options during the Grade 8 to Grade 9 transition process.
Students not currently enrolled in a HPEDSB school, who wish to attend French Immersion or Extended French, may inquire directly with the secondary school.
