During the summer of 2019, Junior Genevieve Morales went to La Romana in the Dominican Republic to get hands on experience in a hospital setting. Genevieve went through a program called Gap Medics, where she stayed in a house with multiple students from all over the United States. Each day, they went to the hospital, watched surgeries, and sometimes got to assist in small procedures. For example, Genevieve was able to remove stitches from a patient’s armpit and hold a testicle. Genevieve says "Overall, I had a great time and would totally do it again!"
