CLRT Binder Studies

We have two opportunities to participate in CLRT Binder Studies during the second trimester.

Both opportunities are half synchronous, half asynchronous.

CLRT Binder Study 1

Binder Study 1 Session Date Ranges + Google Meet Date:

  • Session 1- Oct. 26-Nov. 10; Google Meet 3:30-4:30 Nov. 10

  • Session 2- Nov. 11-Dec. 8; Google Meet 3:30-4:30 Dec. 8

  • Session 3- Dec. 9-Jan. 13; Google Meet 3:30-4:30 Jan. 13

  • Session 4- Jan. 14-Feb. 2; Google Meet 3:30-4:30 Feb. 2

  • Session 5- Feb. 3-Feb. 23; Google Meet 3:30-4:30 Feb. 23

10 hours (5 hours of Google meet time and 5 hours of independent reflection and application)

Binder Study 1 will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of CLR in the classroom, particularly CLR Management (Attention Signals, Discussion, Responding, Movement). You will have the opportunity to partner with colleagues to strengthen your learning (Mindset & Skillset). Participants will be reading the first half of the CLR Binder (Chapters 1-4; all chapters will be shared electronically) in order to strengthen their CLR Management (Attention Signals, Discussion, Responding and Movement). The goal is to move you past Emerger into the floating and kicking areas of CLR. We will start with reviewing the core areas a CLR as well.

Binder Study 2 will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of how their vocabulary and literacy can be culturally responsive. Participants will be reading the second half of the CLR Binder (Chapters 5-10). Core topics include: Tiering words, Word Acquisition Strategies, Personal Thesaurus, Personal Dictionary, Culturally Authentic Texts, Culturally Responsive Read Aloud Protocols, and Culturally Responsive Literacy Strategies. *Prerequisite is Binder Study 1.
