Boys/Girls State
Boys/Girls State: each year the American Legion (Boys) and the American Legion Auxiliary (Girls) interview, select and sponsor Juniors to attend Boys/Girls State camp to explore government and politics for a week in June on a local college campus.

Summer leadership & citizenship programs sponsored by the American Legion & American Legion Auxiliary for high school juniors.
Boys and Girls are nominated by their high school during junior year.
Boys/Girls State are among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students.
A participatory camp in which students become part of the operation of local, county and state government.
Participants learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of franchised citizens.
The training is objective and centers on the structure of city, county and state governments.
Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs.
Individual expenses are paid by a sponsoring post, a local business or another community-based organization.
