Support Groups
The MGSH Counseling Department offers several groups during the school year. Please connect with your student's counselor for more information or to refer a student to a group.
LGBTQ
The LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) group provides a safe and supportive environment for students who are exploring their sexual identities and/or gender identities. Students discuss issues concerning sexual orientation and gender identity, ask questions, and support each other. This is a year-long group. Students interested in joining need to make an appointment to see Ms. Redmond in the Student Services Office or email her at redmondm@district279.org.
New Student Group
This group is designed for students who are new to the Maple Grove area. We will talk about the school, community, and area. Activities will be designed to learn more about your new environment and people here. The groups will be a safe place to ask questions and talk about the challenges and feelings associated with being a new student. This is a year-long group that will meet once or twice a month.
Grief Group
This group is a source of support for students who have experienced a loss. We will look at death and dying with students who have lost or are losing a parent, family member, or friend. The Group will be a safe place to express themselves and ask questions. This is a yearlong group that will meet once a month.
