Orchestra lessons will be in small combined groups of like instruments. Students are pulled out of their regular class for these 30 minute lessons once a week. This schedule is created collaboratively with the classroom teacher.
Students will also have tasks or assignments to complete each week. We will be using the progression system through our curriculum named "Orchestra Karate." These assignments will be posted in their Orchestra class on Seesaw. See the overview of Orchestra Karate below.
Good luck and happy playing!
“Orchestra Karate” is a self-paced progression system in which students earn different color belts as they pass off increasingly more difficult exercises and tests. These belts are earned as ribbons or beads that attach to their instrument case. Each belt shows a level of accomplishment!
Orchestra Karate takes place entirely within Seesaw. Students watch teacher instructional videos, submit their own videos, receive teacher feedback, and track their progress all within the app.
Students benefit from teacher help while they are practicing at home by accessing the video tutorials and play-alongs. Students gain belts by performing selected pieces or demonstrating techniques. These assignments are also used to assess student progress on their report cards.
All assignments and directions to complete each Belt will be available on SeeSaw. Students are logged into Seesaw through their chromebooks. Parents-Please check Seesaw regularly for due dates!
Good luck and happy playing!
