Fiction OR Nonfiction - Screencast of how to find books and their call codes.
When you think of nonfiction do the words FACT, TRUE and REAL come to mind? Most books classified as nonfiction are, but there are also joke books, fairy tales, poetry and unexplained books on the nonfictions shelves. All nonfiction books have a number in the call code. Our library uses the Dewey decimal number plus the first three letters of the author's last name for all nonfiction titles. For example: 811 SIL is a poetry book by Shel Silverstein.
When you think of fiction do the words STORY, MADE-UP and IMAGINATION come to mind? Fiction books under 50 pages are usually labeled as Everybody fiction and have an E in the call code. If a fiction book is over 50 pages it is usually labeled as FIC. Fiction book include the first three letters of an author's last name in the call code to help organize and shelve the library collection. For example: E HEN is an everybody book written by Kevin Henkes. While FIC HEN is a fiction book written by Kevin Henkes.
