Strategies for using recordings:
First time through, just listen to the music while visually following along with your part. At this stage, look up any notes you don't recognize and write in something to help your future self out!
Second time, try fingering along on your instrument while listening but maybe not playing yet.
Third time through, ask yourself if you think you can play it as fast as the recording...
If not, try playing it on your own, using what you've listened to as a guide.
If so, try it out!
Listening can be a HUGE jumpstart on learning or improving your playing, so even if it's a struggle to keep up with, it's definitely worth it.
And remember... HAVE FUN!!
