In an independent class, learners work individually with the instructor. An individualized learning plan is set up between the learner and the instructor. The instructor will provide a course overview, which will be reviewed at the first meeting. Texts/materials will be provided and the student will begin working at his/her own pace. Since the student will not have the benefit of working in a group, interaction and feedback from the teacher is essential to meet the credit competencies. The student will use a variety of methods, including texts, computer-assisted instruction, and one-on-one discussion. A majority of the work must be completed on site and all work is to be reviewed with the instructor during class meeting time. The course is complete when all requirements are met at the level required by the instructor.
