AP English

Welcome to AP English Language and Composition. Although we'll be covering a few British and American Literature classics, most of this class will be focused on modern nonfiction. Throughout the class you will be asked to analyze the rhetorical strategies employed in the various pieces of writing we read. We'll be reading articles, speeches, commentary, and many other kinds of informative and persuasive writing. Our study of literature will focus largely on rhetorical strategies that writers use like tone and figurative language.

You will do a lot of writing in this class. Expect to write essays every week including shorter in-class responses and more in-depth take home essays. Part of becoming a better writer is learning how to evaluate yourself. You will be constantly assessing and evaluating your own work as we progress throughout the class.
