Getting Started with Your Chromebook
Let’s get you logged in, connected, and ready to go!
Whether you’re a student opening your Chromebook for the first time or a teacher setting up for the school year, this page is your hub for geting started. You’ll find step-by-step guides, quick tips, and helpful links to make getting started simple.
Your Chromebook may already be on. If not, the power switch is a button above the backspace button on the top right hand side of your keyboard.
This is the screen you will see when you open the Chromebook. You will see a message about the Chromebook being managed by the school district. Log in with your user ID (@apps.anderson1.org is already entered. ) and your district password.
Educators...you will be asked to complete the two-step verification when you log in the first time.
The shelf is the bottom row of your Chromebook and is similar to a task bar. A Chromebook shelf is smart - if you pin an app to the shelf it will follow you when you sign in on any Chromebook.
The small circle in the lower left corner of the screen is the Apps Launcher. Here you can find tools such as Google Drive, a camera, and more.

ClassLink LaunchPad is your one-stop login for school apps and programs. Sign in with your district username and password. You’ll have instant access to everything you need—like Google products, Gmail, textbooks, and district-purchased programs.
When you open Chrome, Launchpad will be the first tab that opens. You can also get to the Launchpad by clicking the house icon next to the web address.
You will sign in with your district username and password.
(Do not use your entire email address)
This is the student Launchpad. Here you will find links to your textbooks and district purchased programs. All Google products, inlcuding Gmail, are located in the Google Folder.
To connect your Chromebook to your home Wifi follow these steps:
Sign in to your Chromebook
Click the clock/Setting Area
In the bottom-right corner of the screen, click on the clock area (where you see the battery, Wi-Fi, and time).
Select the Wi-Fi icon
A panel will open—click the Wi-Fi symbol (it looks like a fan or cone).
Choose your network
You’ll see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Click the name of your home network.
Enter the password
Type in your home Wi-Fi password (ask a parent or guardian if you're not sure what it is), then click Connect.
You’re connected!
Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon will turn solid. You are now logged in and can start using your Chromebook at home.
