A team of teachers, administrators, coaches, and district officials from ASD1 developed a Collaborative Coaching Instrument (CCI) designed to help teams and coaches assess progress toward the right work of a collaborative team. The tool is based on the five key prerequisites of a PLC at work.
"The fact that teachers collaborate will do nothing to improve a school. The pertinent question is not, Are they collaborating? but rather, What are they collaborating about?" (DuFour et al., 2016, p. 59).
It is important that team members are placed on teams that are focused on the four key questions of a PLC. Teams should regularly self-evaluate to stay focused on the right work.
"It is difficult enough to bring these concepts to life in a school or district where there is a shared understanding of their meaning. It is impossible when there is no common understanding and the terms mean very different things to different people" (DuFour et al., 2016, p. 19).
This glossary exists to align the understanding of key terms surrounding the PLC process for ASD1. With common understanding comes common expectations and clarity for all members of the PLC.
