MRS. Keenan

Mrs. Keenan is new to the social worker role this school year at AMS! However, this is actually her fourth year at AMS! She was previously the Student Assistance Counselor. She has worked for Rensselaer County Mental Health for six years. Before becoming a Student Assistance Counselor, she was a Care Coordinator where she had the opportunity to work with children and their families. She received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work from the College of Saint Rose. One of her favorite parts of being the Student Assistance Counselor at AMS was getting to meet every student and being able to teach them about making good decisions. She is looking forward to working with a new group of students this school year but is hoping to stay connected with all students!

In her free time, Mrs. Keenan enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets! Mrs. Keenan also loves traveling and visiting new places.

What does a social worker do?

School social workers are often called on to help students, families, and teachers address problems such as truancy, social withdrawal, overaggressive behaviors, rebelliousness, and the effects of special physical, emotional, or economic problems (Barker, 2003).
