Mrs. Baker is very excited for her third year at AMS! She is a graduate and community member of the district so she is very familiar with Averill Park. This is her ninth year as a school counselor, and previously she was a 7-12 school counselor at the Hoosick Falls CSD. Mrs. Baker went to Western New England University for her bachelors in psychology and social work, and also obtained her masters degree at The Sage Graduate school for professional school counseling.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, husband and dogs, Draper & Dutton! They enjoy spending time outside, traveling, and cooking together. Mrs. Baker enjoys frequent trips to Target, and loves specialty coffee!

Fun Fact! Mrs. Baker was able to live in Florence, Italy during college and travel to Spain, Ireland, Greece, and to many other cities in Italy.

WHAT DOES A SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?

School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits.
