Hello! My name is Cecilia Berrios, and I’ve been teaching English as a second language for 16 years. I specialize in working with children, helping them build strong language skills through fun, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons.

I believe kids learn best when they feel supported, encouraged, and excited to explore new words and ideas. My lessons combine interactive activities, games, and stories to make learning English something children look forward to. Whether your child is just starting out or wants to improve their speaking, reading, or writing, I’m here to help them succeed

I am Graciela Torres, an ELA teacher with over 20 years of experience in education. I hold a Master's degree in Education and Learning. I started my carrer teaching at the university level, and since 2017, I have been dedicated to working with secondary students. I am passionate about guiding students to think critically and appreciate literature.

I have been a teacher for over 25 years. 13 of those were under the International Baccalaureate program as the English Higher Level Diploma Program teacher and Extended Essay Coordinator. I have also tutored in the area of math. I have provided preparation courses for TOEFL, PSAT, and SAT exams.

I bring over 16 years of teaching experience across a wide range of grade levels. I hold a degree, a Postgraduate Certificate, and a Master’s degree in Education. Throughout my career, I have taught all primary grades (1–5), and I currently teach Humanities at the middle school level. I have also taught English Language Arts at the high school level.

I have been teaching at the American Nicaraguan School for nine years and have a strong understanding of the literacy curriculum and grade-level expectations across divisions. I hold five certifications from the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, focused on both reading and writing units of study. Additionally, I have participated in professional research and studies focused on the Science of Reading and evidence-based vocabulary instruction. I hold a degree in Education and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Psychology in Education, further deepening my understanding of how students learn and thrive.

My name is Olivia Gunn, and this will be my 8th year as a teacher at ANS. I taught 7th, 8th, and 10th grade English, Philosophy, and AP Human Geography before transitioning to my current role of Director of the Capstone and Internship Programs.

In the past several years, I have supported countless students as they have developed their college essays. It is truly a joy to help students as they embark on this next chapter in their lives. 

As a tutor, I prioritize connecting with students, understanding their areas of need, and supporting them as they continue to grow.
