Safety PROTOCOLS

ARRIVAL

  • Hand sanitizer stations will be placed at entrances and exits and encouraged to use.

  • Campuses open at 7:45 AM and report to their 1st period class at AMS, or other common allowable common areas at the high school.

  • Students who wish to eat breakfast will eat breakfast in the cafeteria or first period as directed by the campus.

CAFETERIA

  • Depending on the number of students in the school, students may have meals in both the cafeteria and in an alternate specified location(s).

  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available at entrances and exits of the cafeteria.

CTE & ELECTIVES

CTE and Elective courses will resume normal operations.

Classroom Configurations

  • Each classroom will be outfitted with the following

    1. Refillable alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations

    2. Access to disinfectant supplies to sanitize working surfaces

  • Students may use hand sanitizer upon entering the classroom.

  • Teachers will develop, teach, and implement procedures that:

    1. Encourage the use of cough and sneezing techniques to prevent the spread of germs

    2. Establish student responsibilities to clean personal areas and materials/supplies with hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and other self-cleaning products when necessary.

  • When possible keep interior doors open between classes to minimize contact with doors and door handles by students and staff entering or exiting classrooms.

  • The large spaces (gym, cafeteria, library, maybe repurposed for instructional space for teaching to increase the teaching capacity of the building.

  • Recommended procedures will be applied to all classroom settings, including special education programs when possible and appropriate. Students’ individual needs will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.


COMMON AREAS

  • Common areas include spaces that are used for meetings and collaboration. This includes computer labs, flexible spaces, campus libraries, conference rooms and other meeting rooms.

  • Campuses will develop schedules and protocols for the use of common areas, including how to sanitize space between use. When needed, students will bring personal supplies from the classroom. All students and staff will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting common areas.

DISMISSAL


  • Sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the campus and students will be encouraged to sanitize hands prior to exit.

FACE COVERINGS

  • Face Coverings will be optional for all students and staff per Governor's order.

RESTROOMS

  • Proper handwashing techniques will be taught to all students and consistently reinforced.

  • After a restroom break, students will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer before reentering the classroom.

Technology

  • Students without their own personal device will have an opportunity to check out a district Chromebook.

  • Students will be responsible for this device and follow the guidelines within the device contract.

TRANSITIONS

  • To prevent congregating during transition times teachers will be visible in hallways keeping student movement flowing to their next class.

  • Interior classroom doors will be propped open to reduce high touch areas.

  • Access to hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the campus.

TRANSPORTATION

  • TEA strongly recommends families to drop students off, carpool, or walk with their student to school to reduce possible virus exposure on buses.

  • Buses should be thoroughly cleaned daily, focusing on high-touch surfaces such as bus seats, steering wheels, knobs, and door handles. During cleaning, open windows to allow for additional ventilation and airflow.

  • Buses will be sanitized daily.

  • Hand sanitizer on every bus.

  • Times may vary from last year.

VISITORS

  • Visitors will be allowed on campus for meetings and other scheduled events. All visitors must bring their ID and check in at the front office and complete the Raptor background check before entry.
