Safety PROTOCOLS

ARRIVAL

  • Early bird (prior to 7:15) arrivals are strongly discouraged.

  • The main doors for the entrance of students will be monitored by staff and propped open for student entry to minimize touching surfaces.

  • Any students dropped off before the building is open will not be allowed inside the building.

  • Designated staff will be utilized for duty to maintain a line of sight in hallways and distancing of hallways.

  • Students will go straight to the classroom upon arrival or wait in common areas depending on grade level

  • Parents will not be allowed to walk students to classrooms.

CAFETERIA

Breakfast

  • Students that need breakfast will be able to purchase a meal and eat in the cafeteria.

  • Teachers will monitor in the cafeteria and hallways to ensure social distancing.

Lunch

  • Pre-kindergarten through 5th grade will eat with their grade level in the cafeteria

  • Sanitizing stations are available for students to use as necessary

Classroom Configurations

  • Face Coverings will be optional for all students.

  • Desks or tables will be socially distanced as much as instructionally possible.

  • The use of outdoor space for learning will be considered when possible.

COMMON AREAS

  • Common areas include spaces that are used for meetings and collaboration. This includes computer labs, flexible spaces, campus libraries, conference rooms and other meeting rooms.

  • Campuses will develop schedules and protocols for the use of common areas, including how to sanitize space between use. When needed, students will bring personal supplies from the classroom.

Restrooms

  • Proper handwashing and proper coughing and sneezing containment techniques will be taught to all students and consistently reinforced.

DISMISSAL

  • Separate entrances will be utilized for car riders, bus riders, walkers, and daycares.

FACE COVERINGS

  • Face Coverings will be optional for students and staff unless otherwise directed by state authorities.

RECESS

  • Campuses will resume normal recess activity during regularly scheduled recess time.

  • Restroom breaks and handwashing will be part of the normal recess routine.

SPECIALS

  • All specials classes will resume as normal. Sanitizing stations will be made available for student use as needed.

Technology

  • Students will have an opportunity to utilize district Chromebook in grades PK-5 in the classroom from device carts.

  • In the event that a student is required to quarantine they will need to check out a device and will be responsible for bringing the district Chromebook to school once the quarantine period is over.

TRANSITIONS

  • Doors will be propped at the main entrance during arrival so students do not have to touch door handles, etc.

TRANSPORTATION

  • TEA strongly recommends families drop students off, carpool, or walk with their student to school to reduce possible virus exposure on buses.

  • Buses should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized daily, focusing on high-touch surfaces such as bus seats, steering wheels, knobs, and door handles. During cleaning, open windows to allow for additional ventilation and airflow.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available on every bus.

VISITORS

  • Beginning September 7, 2021 parents will be permitted to eat lunch with their child only in the designated seating area on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year. However, we will continue to monitor COVID cases and if there is a need, this practice will be re-evaluated.

  • Parent volunteers are permitted to work in designated areas within the school. Please check with school personnel for more information.

  • All visitors are required to check-in at the front office with their id and complete the Raptor process prior to entering the building for any reason.
