I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence bestowed upon me, and I am committed to ensuring that this year is one filled with growth and creativity. I joined the Spectator with the aspiration of sharing my passion for photography with the school community. Through this opportunity, I've had the privilege of connecting with diverse individuals across campus, fostering friendships that have enriched my experience. Moreover, my involvement in the Spectator has provided clarity regarding my future path, affirming my desire to pursue photography as a lifelong passion and career. Now, I am honored to serve as the UNCOLI photographer, with the hopeful prospect of showcasing my work across campus and soon, nationally and internationally.
Allow me to take this opportunity to introduce you to the dedicated individuals who will be serving alongside me on the editorial board and executive team:
Cristina Heberle as Publishing Director,
Alexandra Espinosa as Director of Public Relations,
Antonio Villegas as Director of Media,
Sofia Arboleda as Editor in Chief,
Josefina Mustafa as Head of Creative Media.
As we commence this new chapter, I am filled with excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we will continue to uphold the values of inclusivity, integrity, and excellence that define the Anglo Spectator. Through collaboration and dedication, I am confident that we will build upon the strong foundation laid by our predecessors and achieve new heights of success. To each member of our community, whether you are a writer, photographer, reader, or supporter, I extend my sincerest wishes for a rewarding and fulfilling year ahead. Ana Mendoza
President
Anglo community:
My name is Cristina Heberle, and I am really happy to be your director of publishing for this 2024–2025 academic year. It is with immense appreciation that I acknowledge this position, and the opportunity of being part of the Anglo spectator editorial board team. From the very first day, I have admired the work that has been done inside the spectator and I'm thrilled to continue the hard work and legacy of this wonderful project. As your publishing director, I will always be willing to lend a helping hand to anyone of you and help you with all of your problems and doubts.
Furthemore, I would like to extend my appreciation to the whole editorial board, leaders, and writers who work tirelessly to make the newspaper better everyday. To the writers: your dedication and commitment to making this newspaper thrive within the community has been truly commendable.
As we continue this journey together, let the Anglo Community the power and unity we have with this project. Together we will overcome any challenges that may come in our way.
Sincerely yours, Cristina Heberle
Publishing director
Dear Anglo,
My name is Alexandra Espinosa, and it is with great honor that I join the Anglo Spectator Board for the 2024 term, assuming the role of Director of Public Relationships. As I step into this position, I am filled with enthusiasm to build upon the legacy of the past editorial board and look forward to continuing shaping the narrative of our school's history.
My goal for the Anglo Spectator is very simple and to the point: I envision the Spectator as the main source of communication for every member of our community. Not only as an area of information but a space for inspiration, growth, and learning; a space where students feel free to share their opinions and manage to capture their experiences throughout their school years. I believe the Anglo Spectator has the potential to have a lasting impact on our community, with hopes that future generations will continue the legacy. One day, far from now, we will be able to look back at our school experience and live the moments that are now shaping us, all over again.
Together, I am certain we will be able to continue making history, and I extend this introduction as an invitation, to share your perspectives and ideas through the Anglo Spectator.
Kind regards,
Alexandra Espinosa
Members of the Anglo Community,
My name is Antonio Villegas, and I am currently a 10th grade student who aspires to study abroad. I am thrilled to be a member of the Editorial Board for Anglo during the final months of the 2023-2024 academic year and throughout the majority of the 2024-2025 academic year. I joined the Anglo Spectator a year ago to just observe what was happening, if it actually existed, and, more importantly, if I enjoyed it. I tried to write, but it did not match, the same thing with designing, I was just not compatible with that. The thought of leaving started to appear, but I chose to stay, I felt welcomed, and I found new friendships with people I didn't know existed. After weeks of just wondering every Tuesday after school, they asked me if I wanted to manage the webpage, and without hesitation, I said yes. Now I wait every month for the articles to be written so I can read them and then upload them. The Anglo spectator is not a place for people to just write and work on something "boring." It is a place where we can find a supportive community that will encourage you to be the best version of yourself. That is my goal, the creation of a strong, and long lasting community.
Antonio Villegas
Director of Media
Dear Anglo Communnity,
My name is Josefina Mustafá. I am currently a 10th-grade student, and I am delighted to serve as your Director of Creative Media for the 2024–2025 term. Besides writing, my involvement in the design area of the Anglo Spectator has been consistent since last year. During these months of work, I have come to realize the significant role that the presentation of not only the articles but also the pages, covers, etc., plays in integrating more members of the community into the newspaper. Despite the importance of all department heads, my aspirations in this position lie in giving equal weight to creative media as to other forms. This area has had the least participation and visibility in our community. I would love to leave behind a legacy that emphasizes the value of visual imagery and design in this project, as it can enhance understanding, engage readers, build identity, and much more. I'm excited to bring an innovative perspective to our newspaper's visual appeal and engagement!
Josefina Mustafá
Director of Creative Media
Dear Anglo Community,
My name is Sofia Arboleda, currently a 10th grade student, who has always found
writing to be a compelling pursuit. I am very honored to be your Editor in Chief for the 2024 - 2025 academic year and to serve the community within a project that adds so much value to our student voice. Most importantly, my purpose is for all those within the Anglo to feel comfortable and supported enough to voice their opinions and ideas through the newspaper. Furthermore, I am a firm believer that writing fosters connection, as it provides a means for people to transcend barriers, contexts, and backgrounds while sharing stories and insights that resonate with others. Finally, I would like to reiterate the enormous amount of potential within students, but we hope such a project acts as a catalyst to finally give exposure to such ideas and raise courage within future generations of writers.
Best, Sofia Arboleda
Editor in Chief
