Changing credits is entirely in the student’s control.  Faculty cannot do anything.   

• However, you need to keep your advisor informed.

• Please get their approval first before changing this number since there will likely be more required of you!

 In Registration Central, sign up for independent research class like HONS497H or CHEM495 with the appropriate section number.  

• Zero is the default credit.

• 1 credit is about 3 hrs (a lab period) of effort per week.

After the class shows up in the student’s class list, click on the tab “Schedule and Options”

Then, click “Hours” for the variable credit hours classes like research.  

Type in a new number that has been agreed upon between the student and faculty member
