I have been teaching salsa and bachata for many years, ever since my days with Tartan Salsa...
Tartan Salsa is the student organization at Carnegie Mellon University that I co-founded with fellow grad students in 2017 with the goal of introducing the student community to Afro-Latin rhythms and culture. In addition to starting the organization, I took leadership roles in the Executive Board as President, Treasurer, and Secretary over the years that followed, as well as gaining extensive teaching experience as head instructor.
During my time with Tartan Salsa, we built a remarkable community around dancing, where people from all backgrounds would learn together, travel to congresses to cultivate their skills, and—most of all—enjoy dancing with each other. It was truly a joy to give life to this project.
