Youth Empowerment Summit
On Wednesday 10/21/26 Ms. Heinke took 25 student leaders to the 26th annual Youth Empowerment Summit. Our students proudly represented Long Pond School, demonstrating enthusiasm, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive difference. Throughout the event, students collaborated with peers and mentors to develop ideas for strengthening our school community.
Inspired by their experience, our students are eager to promote kindness, inclusion, helping others, and encouragement among both students and staff. Their ideas include hosting kindness assemblies, organizing a schoolwide Kindness Week, launching “Operation Sticky Notes” to spread positive messages and affirmations, expanding on the “Secret Agents of Kindness” program, and creating new ways for students to recognize and celebrate one another’s acts of kindness.
We are proud of our Chargers for their outstanding representation of our school and their dedication to creating a more welcoming, supportive, and compassionate community. We look forward to seeing their ideas come to life!
Week of Respect
Week of Respect
Our school celebrated Week of Respect (10/5-10/9) with engaging activities designed to promote kindness, inclusion, and positive relationships. Students participated in Spirit Week dress-up days accompanied by themed morning announcements and explored the importance of respect through creative activities led by the Long Pond Peer Leaders. Their “Share a Slice of Respect” initiative included a cafeteria bulletin board and an interactive pizza-themed activity where students added toppings featuring kind and respectful messages.
Students also participated in grade level presentations on New Jersey’s Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) Law, focusing on how to be an upstander and when to seek help from a trusted adult. To further demonstrate their commitment, students signed a schoolwide banner that will be displayed as a lasting reminder of our shared responsibility to treat one another with respect.
Through these activities, our Chargers reinforced the importance of creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful school community every day!

Peer Leaders Kick Off the Season of Hope Toy Drive!
Peer Leaders are excited to kick off our annual toy drive in support of Project Self-Sufficiency’s Season of Hope: Stuff the Stocking Toy Drive Contest! Last year, our school donated exactly 100 toys to help brighten the holidays for local families. This year, we’re raising the bar with a goal of 125 toys!
Project Self-Sufficiency opens its doors to parents and guardians of children ranging from infants to teenagers, allowing them to shop donated toys and choose something special for their children this holiday season.
Help us spread joy and make the season a little brighter for families in our community! All donated toys must be new and unused. Donations can be dropped off in the main entrance of LPS. Let’s work together to reach our goal and make this our biggest year yet!

About Your School Counselor
Ms. Heinke has a Masters of Science in Professional School Counseling from Russell Sage College. She received her Bachelors of Science in Creative Arts in Therapy with a focus in Psychology.
Ms. Heinke values character building, self-discovery, health and wellness, career/college readiness, and fostering a community of kindness.
Outside of school you can find Ms. Heinke being creative whether that be painting, embroidering, or crafting, enjoying the outdoors, and playing fetch with her German Shepherd, Maverick!

Ms. Heinke's goal as a school counselor is to promote student growth by focusing on the "whole" child and by supporting academic, character, personal, and career development. As a counselor she seeks to empower each student to reach their highest potential. She also has a focus on enhancing Long Pond's community and climate by challenging and inspiring our students and staff to be upstanders both on and off campus!
