Class Rules and Consequences

Our class rules are based on one word:

RESPECT

  1. Right on Time!

    • Before starting our class, the teacher will do an attendance check. Make sure to answer when your name is called.

    • Repeated Tardies will result in lunch detentions, which can lead to a discipline referral.

    • Look at the board to see what you will need from your bookbag. You will then leave your bookbag in the designated area and head to your seat.

  2. Electronic Use

    • All electronic devices are prohibited when class is ongoing, except when it is needed for the coursework.

    • Feel free to use the charging station for your Chromebooks and phones. Make sure to bring your own charging cords.

    • Cell Phones are strictly prohibited. Any use of cell phones must have prior approval by the teacher. If a student is caught with their phone without permission, the teacher will confiscate the phone and place it at the Phone Station until the end of class. After the first offense, the teacher will take it to the front office, where it will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian will need to enter the passcode into the phone in order to leave with it.

    • You will be expected to use your Chromebook regularly in this class. Make sure your Chromebook is charged and ready for class. Failure to have your Chromebook ready for class may result in lunch detention.

  3. Save Food for Lunch

    • Students are NOT allowed to eat or drink while class is ongoing.

    • Feel free to drink water though.

  4. Participate

    • We will be doing something in every class. Make sure to stay active in the classroom.

    • Failure to participate in the class activities will result in lost points on your Weekly Participation Grade.

    • Failure to participate may also result in lunch detention if it disrupts classroom activities.

    • Missing Work - Any late assignments will result in a 0% for that assignment along with a lunch detention. 3 lunch detentions for the same assignment will result in a discipline referral for "Refusal to work." Students are able to make up the assignment for full credit.

  5. Email & Google Classroom

    • Make sure to check your email, Google Classroom, and our website for any upcoming events or assignments.

    • The teacher will have a Google Meet ready for any students who are absent from class. Students who are absent are still expected to turn in all online assignments in Google Classroom.

  6. Collaborate and Listen

    • We'll be working together to make great music! Make sure to work as a group and be ready to listen when the teacher gives directions.

    • When the teacher needs students' attention, he will ask students to clap or call on individual students.

    • Failure to follow directions or to stop talking can lead to lunch detentions, with 3 lunch detentions resulting in a discipline referral for "Disruptive Behavior."

  7. Treat Others Like You Want to be Treated

    • Be respectful of others' belongings, time, and voice. We're going to work together to make something great.

    • Belongings - Do not touch another student or their belongings without their permission.

    • Time - Make sure not to waste time. We have a limited window to get things done, but I would like to give you breaks. The more efficient we work then the more break time we will have.

    • Voice - Do not interrupt others. Allow the other students to express their ideas without judgement or interruption. Choir is a safe zone. Bullying of any kind will NOT be tolerated.
